How Did EPDM Roofing Develop Over Time?
Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) roofing was initially introduced in the early 1960s and gained significant popularity in the 1970s, partially because of drastic price increases on asphalt-based roof systems driven by the Middle East Oil Embargo. The two main components of this membrane are ethylene and propylene. The chemical build of these membranes allows them to be highly robust and weather resistant.
